Mary Stichter

Mary taught first second grade for thirty two years.  She is currently an insturctor in the Department of Teaching and the University of Northern Iowa.  Throughout her career she has focused on inquiry based learning and project work.  She considers herself a "science geek."  This will be her sixth year as the director for Summer Science Camp.  She is also the mother of seven chilren and expecting her fifth grandchild.  She enjoys  all fiber arts, especially spinning and hand painting her own specialty yarns.  Mary, her husband Jim and two youngest boys look forward to camping adventures this summer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Allison Barness

Allison J. Barness is a Field Experience Coordinator at the University of Northern Iowa and is most recently a new doctoral student at the UNI.. She teaches pre-service teachers and observes them throughout their field experiences in our local schools. Allison has been trained in a variety of CEESTEM modules and presents around our state promoting science and inquiry to elementary and early childhood educators.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shelley McCumber

My name is Shelley McCumber. I was a K-12 Physical Education Teacher for 10 years with the Cedar Falls School District (1 yr) and Malcolm Price Laboratory School (9 yrs). For the past two years I have been working for the University of Northern Iowa as an Instructor in the Physical Education Department and as the Physical Education Field Experience Coordinator. I LOVE sharing my passion for physical activity and fitness with my students off all ages! 

 

 

 

 

Katie Simpson

Katie Simpon  is currently teaching 2nd grade students at Southdale Elementary, and in her fifth year of teaching. She recently completed her Masters Degree in Literacy from the University of Northern Iowa, and has an additional certification to teach Spanish K-6. She has a passion for hands-on, inquiry-based learning and her dream is to instill the love of learning by encouraging students to be curious and become problem-solvers!

Stanley Ebede

Stanley Ebede is currently a graduate student in Leisure, Youth and Human Services and a Graduate Assistant in Nonprofit Leadership Alliance program at University of Northern Iowa. He is also a member of World Leisure Organization. He has a passion on working with students both from recreational and academic perspectives.
